Chuck Blore

Chuck Blore, Creative Seminar
Chuck Blore is a broadcasting legend several times over. From January 2, 1958 until the mid-'60s, Blore was the creative force and Program Director behind Top 40 powerhouse KFWB in Los Angeles, launching it into the stratosphere by taking it from zero ratings to number-one in three months with a 30-share of the market. In 1964, he turned his magic to the world of advertising with Chuck Blore Creative Services and struck gold, silver and platinum with several thousand awards to the company's credit. Chuck's advertising, like his radio station programming, was unique and innovative. His styles included quick cut editing techniques, highly memorable jingle lyrics, and "tug-at-your-heart-strings" emotional spots. Now in his 80’s, Chuck Blore refuses to slow down. In 2007, he generously agreed to come to Toronto and share some of his wisdom with those attending the RMB Crystal Awards’ Creative Seminar.

Stan Freberg

Stan Freberg, Radio Day
In the early 1940’s, as a teenager, Stan Freberg landed a job doing cartoon voices alongside Mel Blanc at Warner Bros, as well as performing character work on the top radio shows of the day. In 1949 one of his former directors at Warner Bros., Bob Clampett, asked Stan if he'd like to get in on the ground floor of something new: television. The end result was "Time for Beany" (the predecessor to the 1960s animated "Beany and Cecil" show). From 1961 until the 1990’s, Stan devoted himself to his first love: Radio. Over four decades, Stan Freberg created some of the most successful and instantly recognizable commercials ever produced. It was during this extremely productive period that in March of 1981, at the invitation of the Radio Marketing Bureau, Stan Freberg came to Toronto to discuss his life, his career, and above all, his Radio.

Please note: The only known recording of this event, a cassette tape, has been digitally remastered and significantly improved. While the audio quality isn't perfect, the genius of Stan Freberg shines through in spite of any technical shortcomings.
